When I think of British comedy, I tend to think of Benny Hill, Monty Python, Mr. Bean and classic sitcoms such as Fawlty Towers and Are You Being Served. Now I have a few more items to add to that list, the brilliant comedy team of Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise.
Morecambe and Wise were partners in comedy for over 40 years, yet I’m ashamed to admit that I hadn’t even heard of these guys until only a few days ago when I started watching videos of their timeless sketches on YouTube. Not only were the sketches hilarious, they also had class and proved they didn’t need to be crude or vulgar to be funny. It’s a shame we don’t see this type of comedy anymore.
