Flash drives old and new.

The flash drive on the left was the very first flash drive I ever bought. I don’t recall the name of the manufacturer but the only clue is the letter “Q” that’s embossed on the face of the drive. It has only 8MB memory and to use it you had to download the drivers from the manufacturer’s web site. If I were to use it today I’d be out of luck since Windows has no idea what to do with what it calls an “unknown device”.

The flash drive on the right is a more recent purchase. It’s from Sandisk, has 16GB of memory and works right out of the box.

It’s amazing how far flash memory technology has gone over the years.
