Three months ago I saw this cute little duckling while walking past the fountain to the building where I work.
Earlier that week I had seen a whole batch of ducklings but over time they disappeared, leaving this one the sole survivor. I began to hope that it would defy the odds of survival and reach adulthood. That it did. Here’s the same duckling, three months later.
It’s amazing how fast it’s grown in three months. During this time, I witnessed its transformation to a tiny duckling to the full-sized duck it is now. As it got larger it took its first brave steps in the water and now spends more time swimming there than the other ducks who live around the fountain. As large as it is now, it still stays near its mother. After all, a mother’s job is never done.
They are never far from each other and still spend their time together. The two have developed a special bond that will never break.
I have a feeling that in another three months I won’t even tell the young duck apart from the other adults as it approaches adulthood. I will definitely post an update then.
