How to Write a Sentence: And How to Read One is certainly one of the more interesting books I’ve read. It may seem obvious how to write a sentence but it never occurred to me on the many ways to do it. The book features sentences collected from various literary works and puts them under a microscope to present a thorough analysis of the ways they were constructed. So many factors come into play when constructing a sentence, from choosing the right words and adjusting the timing of what’s being said to add a little drama. It’s a more skillful art than I ever thought. Never again will I take the art of reading and writing sentences for granted.
