The Hall of Mirrors.

The mirrors hung on walls
In a narrow hall
Facing each other and
Reflecting each other
To infinity.
I step in
And gaze in wide wonder
At the sight of the mirrors.
Cautiously I step forward
And render a reflection
Of myself in the mirrors
Digging deep inside of me,
Casting reflections
Of my soul and
Of my innermost thoughts.
I stand in awe
In sight of these newfound revelations.
Then I hear a voice.
“Sir? We’re closing in ten minutes.”
I am stunned into silence,
My feelings of awe
Replaced with uncertainty.
“But this is the Hall of Mirrors.” I say.
Then the voice answers back,
“No, this is Home Depot.”
