The angry squirrel dashed
Across the pavement
In noxious pursuit of its enemy,
An unresolved argument
Tantamount to a silent declaration of war.
What was I to do?
Reaching into my pocket,
I pull out a peanut
And crack it open.
I call the two sides over
With my offering of peace.
I give a peanut to each squirrel
And watch as they happily devour the prize
With their hostile intentions momentary disarmed.
