I asked Time,
“Can you make the new year
My best one ever?
The old year was pathetic.”
Time chortled and said,
“What am I, a wizard?
All I do is move forward
Without looking back.
If I did grant wishes,
I would have to stop
And grant each one.
And when I stop,
There could be a disruption
In the space-time continuum
That could unleash consequences
Far too terrifying to imagine!”
“I don’t care,” I yelled,
“I still want the new year
To be my best one ever!”
“FINE!” Time yelled back,
“Go look out the window.”
Eagerly I ran to the window
Saw what was outside
And screamed
