The sand which I saved.

One of the highlights of my childhood was a hike down the Grand Canyon during a family vacation to Arizona. On our way back up we got caught in an unexpected downpour and my shoes got wet and muddy. After my shoes dried, I noticed they had gathered red sand from the trail, so I decided to keep the sand in a jar upon our return home.

We also visited the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado. There we got to climb one of the sand dunes, which proved to be a monumental task. However, the fun part was the epic run downhill. By the time I reached the bottom, I noticed that my shoes had gathered allow the sand they could hold, so I decided to keep the sand in a jar upon our return home.

Finally, I close with some red sand I saved from my two-year tenure in Oklahoma. No, it didn’t gather in my shoes this time, but I wanted to bring a small piece of Oklahoma to my current residence in Florida.

And that’s the sand which I saved.
